The Why

Q: Why does this blog exist? 
A:  Our 16th anniversary is coming up at the end of the month, and while this isn't necessarily a 'gift' to Eric, I thought it'd be a fun way to share some thoughts about the way we came to be an us. He may have experienced things differently, but this is a true account for me. And I will even be sharing a few real-life journal entries from back in the day!

Q: What do I hope to accomplish?
A: Really, nothing. It's just a way to have a little more fun in this life and my goal is to update some sort of memory every day. I'll try to keep things chronological, but it may not be completly that way.

Q: Why did you choose the blog name?
A: This is perhaps an important question and one that I wish I could post more about, but it is what it is. And of course, the blog title The Story of Us was already taken. So I thought it was kind of creative to use our initals...and I'm just lucky Eric's name starts with a vowel and my name starts with an 's'.

For whatever reason a lot of the songs Taylor Swift has written, could have been written by Eric or myself. Her songs have described a lot of aspects of our relationship. It's kind of crazy. Here's a quick list of a few.

LOVE STORY
We were both young. My parents weren't exactly happy when we started dating. And it took us both awhile to figure out that he was my Romeo and I was his Juliet.

YOU BELONG WITH ME
Eric was technically 'dating' another girl when I came into the picture. And he always felt that she didn't quite get him like I did. So while we didn't know each other long, it took him awhile to figure out that I was what he needed.

OUR SONG
It took awhile for Eric and I to find 'our song', but when we did it was pretty amazing. So this songs fits for those days before we had one. We had so many fun times that could well end up being our song.

MINE

It's amazing how the latter part of the song explains our story so well.

OURS

I can't count the number of people who tried to sabotage our relationship from the get-go. We had to be strong to get through it, 'but this love is ours.'

EVERYTHING HAS CHANGED

It was amazing how quickly our world changed after we met...

So while her song, The Story of Us isn't one such song, it is still a song by her and so it fit in with my 'theme'.
